Charity Horse Race Friday 7th December
Charity horse race night
On Friday 7th of November we will host another Charity Horse Race night in aid of WishHouse the charity which provides terminally ill children with whatever they can to help improve their lives. Please support this event, which was an excellent evening last time around, by sponsoring horses at £2 a time before the event and then by betting on the horses on the day. Want to give up smoking
As we all know Sunday 1st of July ended smoking in all enclosed work places in Britain. Charlie Fastrax has always been a non smoking establishment but now the days of parents sneaking over to the Sportsman for a crafty fag will be over. The Sportsman will have a covered outdoor area for smokers but as the law states this will have to be open to the elements. Those who want to use this ‘opportunity’ to give up smoking can receive help from the current NHS initiative to help smokers quit either by phone on 0800 169 0 169 or online at www.gosmokefree.co.uk.
x Bonfire Night - Cheers
Many thanks to everybody who turned up on bonfire night and made it such an excellent evening. The atmosphere in the pub was superb even if some people were waiting in the pub a little while to get served due to the shere numbers involved. Thank you for your patience!
The night was a victory in the face of adversity after our first bonfire was burned down by some lowlife wasters on the previous Sunday morning. Then when a local firm kindly agreed to re-stock the fire one of our more miserable neighbours decided to threaten and verbally abuse the wagon driver who would then not come back with anymore. Anyway despite all this the bonfire went ahead and was an amazing success. We hope it is’nt our last bonfire but it does seem to be getting more difficult each year to organise and it is noticeable how few pubs now have bonfires which is such a shame as in the right circumstances they are fantastic family events as was shown last Saturday.
Cheers
